    The Advanced Simulation Engineer will play an integral role in upping our game in the virtual development and analysis of future sporting goods equipment.  This is a hands-on position with a heavy emphasis on Simulation and Optimization techniques for development of high strength and low weight structures and restitutional modeling of sports balls. This is a corporate level position and will interface closely with all Wilson Business Unit Innovation + R&D groups for Baseball, Demarini/Slugger Bats, Racquet Sports, Football, and Basketball. Succession planning for this individual would include Manager of Advanced Innovation for one of 4 Wilson BUs.



    What You'll Do

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily:

    • Facilitate the virtual prototyping and evaluation of advanced engineering designs and concepts for baseball, golf, tennis and sports balls products.
    • Develop methods for running simulation and optimization to guide decision making on new products for strength, durability, manufacturability, aerodynamics, acoustics and performance including designing for Additive Manufacturing.
    • Understand and communicate methods and findings to various R&D organizations in the pursuit of developing world class products that all athletes will value.


    What We're Looking For

    • An undergraduate degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering is required; post-graduate degree is considered an asset. Degreed individuals in the Computer Sciences field will also be considered.
    • 3-5 years experience in aerospace, automotive or sporting goods in applications engineering or R&D
    • Experience creating designs for manufacturing with 3D modeling software (NX or SolidWorks)
    • Sufficient knowledge & experience using finite element software, computer simulation, numerical methods and FEA Theory.
    • Experience with Hypermesh preferred (or Abaqus Viewer, ANSYS acceptable)
    • Experience with LS-DYNA preferred ( or Abaqus, NASTRAN acceptable)
    • Highly proficient with Matlab ( other programming proficiency in C#, Python, Visual Basic a plus)
    • Ability to work in fast changing unstructured way and shift priorities as they emerge.
    • A demonstrated passion for sport a big plus.
    • Ability to communicate complex methods, timelines and findings to a non-technical audience.
    • Strong analytical ability to compare, evaluate and generate recommendations for improvements or next steps.
    • A desire to understand the mechanics and physics that make sports equipment perform.
