What You'll Do

We are seeking a Tax Manager that will focus on both income & franchise tax compliance and tax accounting for all segments of the U.S. consolidated group and Canada.   This role will participate in meeting the required compliance & tax accounting deadlines, as well as provide support for multiple areas within the tax department including tax planning & audits, and assist on special projects as needed. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Manage and maintain the processes and systems of federal, state and local income tax compliance. This also includes estimated payments, cash tax forecasts, extensions, etc.  In completing these responsibilities, this role is ultimately responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of filings.
  • Coordination of the preparation process of U.S. & Canadian federal and multi-state / provincial corporate income / franchise tax returns including coordinating, gathering and analyzing supporting data from internal and external resources.
  • Review and manage the preparation of the U.S. & Canadian quarterly and annual income tax provisions. Preparation of return-to-provision calculations and journal entries in framework of annual tax accounting and reporting.
  • Review and manage state income tax audits, including responding to IDRs, and maintain audit ready files.
  • Identify process improvements, including the design and implementation of new practices.
  • Develop sound working relationships with key departments within the Amer Sports organization, e.g. Finance, Legal, Treasury and Operations.
  • Assist with more general tax work, as necessary.

What We're Looking For

We require an undergraduate degree in accounting or other financial discipline required: CPA or advanced degree a plus.  Other qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of corporate tax experience; Big 4 experience is a plus.
  • Experience with GAAP and/or IFRS (tax) accounting practices is a must.
  • Experience in developing/supporting group or regional tax strategies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with tax and non-tax professionals.
  • Hands-on experience with tax and finance related software packages; OneSource and/or SAP are a plus.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills for multi-tasking.

This includes the ability to think critically and to make clear and well-reasoned decisions and / or recommendations, while also considering the ‘big’ pictureYou must have a solid track record to achieve results in a complex, multi-cultural and multi-geographical environment.  Other characteristics include: 

  • Strong personality with effective communication and interpersonal skills to rapidly establish credibility and trust among a broad range of individuals within and outside the company.
  • Outstanding conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills, coupled with a high energy level.
  • Self-learner, i.e. being self-aware of strengths and weaknesses, being open and receptive of feedback and taking the steps to improve, as necessary.
  • Ability to multi task and to prioritize under pressure and within timeline constraints.
  • Candidate should be comfortable working in virtual teams, collaborating with others, but also capable of working independently to achieve results.
  • Strong integrity and ethics as well as a strong sense of accountability.
  • Ability to occasionally travel domestically and abroad. 

This role is ideally based in the Chicagoland area, though remote based candidates are encouraged to apply as we are prioritizing candidate fit over physical location.  In Chicago, this role will work a flexible hybrid model based at Wilson Sporting Goods Co. global headquarters sitting along the lakefront.
