It is vital that you are comfortable both working independently, as well as with an R&D group with diverse backgrounds, skills and areas of expertise.  The work you would complete in the lab and batting cage directly impacts bat development directions and ultimately helps design the bats being manufactured in the same building.  At DeMarini, our dedication to performance drives our decisions every day, striving to produce the best bats for the best ball players in the world.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform in-house product testing for evaluation of mechanical properties, durability, performance and quality of both standard production and developmental bats and bat components.  This will include, but not be limited to:
  • Measuring physical bat properties (mass/balance point/COP/MOI/etc)
  • Conducting fatigue testing of bats and bat components
  • Mechanical strength testing using an UTM/Instron
  • Shooting baseball/softballs with cannons for measuring both performance and durability of bats
  • Baseball/softball performance testing and qualification (BBCOR, BBS, USSSA, USA Baseball)
  • Carrying out regular maintenance and upkeep of lab equipment and supplies
  • Maintain paper and digital documentation of both test procedures and collected data
  • Create and distribute lab reports based off tests and experiments ran in the lab(s)
  • Provide insight and details as to what happened during testing to make improvements/decisions as needed within the other DeMarini groups
  • Assist in the fabrication of prototypes or equipment.

What We're Looking For

This role requires an Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology or a related field, or a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Other qualifications include:

  • Team player with the ability to work well independently or in a group setting.
  • Confident and comfortable working with a wide variety of manufacturing processes and materials – this would include but not be limited to injection molded plastics, aluminum, and composite parts.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; familiar with general mechanical and electrical repair processes.
  • Comfortable with hand and power tools, ie. cutting, drilling, tapping, mechanical and electrical assembly.
  • Well-developed problem solving/troubleshooting skills; knowledge of problem solving tools like FMEA, DMAIC, 8d, etc.preferred
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently towards goals in a complex, diverse, and constantly changing environment
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
