What You'll Do

We are currently seeking a Quality Engineering Student to work part-time at our facility in Sparta, TN. 

 

As the Quality Engineering Student, you will interpret data analytics for our external returns and internal scrap, perform root cause analysis based on the data, and collaborate with multiple departments to implement solutions beginning to end. As needed, this position may redistribute workload between Quality, Manufacturing, and Lean to ensure Wilson is sending a quality product, on time to the customer base.  

 

Specific responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

 

Process Integration Support

 

  • Collaborate with process owners to create an onboarding guide that outlines interconnected production steps, enabling employees to see how their role fits into the overall process and supports quality outcomes.
  • Gather feedback from team members and supervisors to continuously improve onboarding materials and ensure clarity and accuracy of process documentation.
  • Document and maintain job instruction and training assessment database

  

Data Analytics  

  • Reactive measures: Review return figures, correlate patterns with the data available, and investigate production and customer experiences for possible improvements to mitigate future occurrences.  
  • Proactive measures: Analyze internal scrap data to help put corrective actions in place to prevent non-confirming production shipping to the customer base.  
  • Work with cross functional teams to implement continuous improvement within the organization.

  

Quality Metrics & Standards  

  • Assist in color measuring metrics and utilizing the software to measure color that designates if it is within acceptable tolerances. May also be analyzing what is acceptable tolerances in color for the clothing/uniform market to compare with our acceptable standards.  
  • Assist in performing incoming tests in the lab to validate incoming materials such as wash testing and abrasion testing. 
  • Placement standards and guides may need review, revision, or creation for use in plant to assist in production of new items and new processes.  
  • Investigate quality concerns for stock and sublimation products for defects and help drive corrective action measures.  

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a degree in an Engineering discipline and in good standing with the universityOther technical / critical thinking degrees will be considered.  

 

Other qualifications include:

 

  • Current enrolled student in an Engineering discipline and in good standing with the universityOther technical / critical thinking degrees will be considered. 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks 
  • Familiarity with computer technology. Prior use of Excel, Outlook, and Teams is a plus. 
  • Ability to read a tape measure to 1/8th inch 
  • Creative Thinking and Problem Solving: analyzing information and evaluating results using logic to choose the best solutions. 
  • Motivated and Professional: Committed to improving problem solving and interpersonal skills 
  • Able to work well with others and function as a member of a cross functional team 
  • Openness to constructive feedback and coaching 
  • Attention to detail: Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.

The starting pay for this role is $17/hour at the time of this posting.
